Miami-Dade County has inducted its first Cuban-American Public Defender, Carlos Martinez. Martinez now takes over an office dealing with serious budget cuts from the state and an enormous amount of cases. How these cuts and previous reports of the PD's office having to refuse cases will affect the poor in need of defence remains to be seen under Mr. Martinez's leadership.
